Why does Hattori Hanzo feel obligated to make Uma a sword in Kill Bill Vol.1?
I never fully understood why Hanzo makes the decision to create Uma a sword when he swore an oath to never create one ever again. Even though it's Bill, what does he care? I know he created Bill his sword and taught him but why is it his problem to help her out with whatever he is doing,? Can anyone explain why the fact that it's Bill that he does this for her? What did Bill do to him?
Because Bill is a very bad person, a murderer. Hanzo feels partially responsible because he helped teach Bill the skills that Bill used to kill people. In Uma Thurman's character, Beatrix, Hanzo sees someone who is setting things right, and he wants to help her do that, by making her a great sword that she will use to kill Bill.
