Small Texas
My husband and I are looking for a small Texas town, any suggestions?
My husband and I want to move to a small town in Texas in a few years where we want to raise children and I want to teach and he wanted to be a cop. We're both from Texas, but we're looking at a place with hills and certainly lots and lots of trees. Nothing is flat or wide open. We want it to be very small (less than 7 to 8k population) and no more than an hour to a big city. Any idea of a city with these criteria? We want to buy land wherever we move.
There are many roads small towns along 59; Atlanta, Linden, Jefferson, Carthage. Also rather far to the west is Gilmer, Pittsburg, Daingerfield; all this is a good town. Atlanta has a Wal-Mart and I do not think Gilmer also. There are many tall trees in the area, and state parks. Closer to Houston, there is Livingston, population 5,000 to 6,000. I have been through there. Also you can see the small towns on Hwy. 69 between Tyler and Denison, but the trees not as high in the area. Mineola perhaps the city you want.
